AEDM: November 29, Watercolor shapes

I got a little watercolor set in a Halloween goodie bag a coworker at the beginning of November (she brought in those left over after all of her trick-or-treaters had gone) and tonight I decide to do a simple painting with them.

I feel like a lot of the people who are doing AEDM have a lot more technique and/or training than me, and probably more time too, but I am having fun and I don’t care if anyone likes my art or not. I have been able to post something creative every day for over a week, which is awesome for me. I feel like I have a creative soul, I yearn to be an artist, but the only way to get better is to practice. Which I wasn’t doing. I wanted to wake up one day and just… be good. That’s not going to happen, I have to practice and in time I’ll get there. I know that my art is at a beginner level now, but that it will be a fun reference point to see how I improve over time.

Anyway, here is my simple art, followed by a photo of the art plus the mini watercolors. The paper is white construction paper, smaller than 8.5×11. Maybe 6×9?

Life got in the way of NaNoWriMo this year, and I lost steam after 17,255 words (I’m still proud of that, though). I didn’t even know about AEDM until after the month was more than half over, but since starting I have done it every day. Posting tomorrow will be great, and I will consider that a “win” because I stuck with it as long as possible. I am hoping to continue to post something new every day long after November 2009 is over.

  1. I painted lots of watercolor during AEDM and I have no training other than visiting websites and reading books… and yet I have grown in my technique this AEDM month, a lot.If nothing else, courage is greater than it was before. I am grateful you started Art Every Day Month and got as far as you did in NaNo. Hugs and happy high fives.
