Creative Goddess course Week 1 artwork

The walk with Great Spirit was awesome because it was spending time with my sister, and we don’t spend a lot of time together anymore since I live an hour away.

I found three gifts, and I have to admit that I stole this idea from Dionne a year ago, the first time I started this course (and I have already gotten further than that), who formed her items in the shape of the word JOY. That’s my word of the year, so I was really excited to find these items:

I am working on The Artist’s Way as well as this course, and this week is week three for that. Issues I am dealing with from that relate to shame and anger. But after something I did earlier today in an attempt to release the shame, I felt a lot more light and free. Creating my art after this, I was filled with an amazing sense of freedom and calm and yes, JOY.

My artwork was ready when I had no empty spaces left that I wanted to fill. I am happy when I look at it, and I can’t wait for it to be fully dry so I can hang it on the wall in my bedroom. I started with a white canvas that I painted with two shades of blue acrylic paint.

I added a thin green ribbon, and a gold elastic band tied in a bow. Then I searched through my box of collage supplies, images and words cut from a TON of magazines, and selected the ones I wanted to use in my art. Things that represent me and how I felt today, like fireworks, and the word Truth. And things that I saw in my meditation vision. A pastel-colored rainbow. A butterfly. Flowers. A white feather that was my gift. The word Love. The word JOY spelled out in nature (printed on photo paper, since the nature itself won’t last long).

And I added a unicorn and the word Magic to represent the Goddess Circle.

The words Lessons From and the words Inner Goddess, representing my Wise Woman Goddess Self. A fortune cookie fortune that says “May the good spirits be with you always.” An oil pastel heart. A cupcake button. Star and heart rhinestones. An image of artist’s brushes, representing the creative goddess I want to be, that I already am. And from a magazine, part of the poem Phenomenal Woman by Maya Angelou, which has always been a favorite.

And of course, a LOT of glitter glue to hold it all together. 🙂 The complete, final art work:

This week I learned that the Creative Goddess in me is there, I just have to let her out to play more often. And she is fun!
