Pink Wednesday: August 31, 2011

I recently got a white Konad stamping polish from Traci‘s blog sale and today I decided was the perfect time to try it out. Do you remember my first attempt at stamping? NO? Oh yeah, that’s because I didn’t post it! It didn’t go so well…

That was July 9, 2011. The polish job was horrible, the clean up job was nonexistent, and the stamping was awful (Orly Basket Case with China Glaze Flyin’ High stamping – BM plates 02 and 14). But I do LOVE that shade of pink!

The first thing I have to say about the Konad stamping polish is that it’s thick, which is important for two reasons. First, it gives a good solid color on the nail. And second, it doesn’t dry on the plate before you have time to transfer it to the stamper, let alone your nail. I intend to buy more stamping polishes.

Today’s base polish is L.A. Colors Exotic Pink (BCC560). I picked it because it’s a pretty close match to the tank top I’m wearing. ๐Ÿ™‚ I decided to recreate the nail above by using the same stamps. Then I put the cupcakes on the rest of my nails. Et voila!

My pinky broke yesterday, boo! But the stamping job is much better. So I get credit for that.

Not perfect by any means, but a tremendous improvement.

You can see a little bit here (and a lot on my right hand) that my placement still needs work. I don’t know how anybody can place each stamp in the exact same spot on each nail. Practice, I guess. I love how the white really pops against the pink base color. My index finger is my favorite stamping of the day – just about perfect coverage and placement.

I threw in this photo just for fun. Be sure to click on it if you want to see it enlarged. I love my hibiscus plant, and I’m happy to report that it weathered Hurricane Irene like a pro. ๐Ÿ™‚

I love this manicure, flaws and all, and I hope it doesn’t start chipping in a day or two. I’m still pondering if I should add a glittery top coat to some or all of the nails.
